Ever had your router overheat?

So, This is probably the dumbest thing that ever happened to me technologically, my router for the past 2 days has been literally overheating causing my internet to go out randomly, and the way I fixed it was odd enough to post here, my rooms hot as hell, but my ethernet cord is short so I can't put it out of my room. Long story short, here's the picture of what I did to stop it from overheating.

And yes, it did work.

ive heard of routers over heating. and the only reason i know if its because it cant breathe
