hello everyone. So some of my guys from Diablo and myself were playing Invade and Annex yesterday, and I thought to myself. Wouldn't this be a more fun game mode for our public server rather than insurgency? If you look at 77th JSOC as an example, they have 2 invade and annex server which does 100% of their recruiting. They have a lot of public players, the server gets used all the time and it creates a lot of good traffic on their TS. My point is that reconsidering our game modes for the public server could be beneficial in the end. I would personally also be more willing to jump on and play invade and annex rather than insurgency Takistan, I find insurgency way to repetitive and would like something new on our public server, possibly something with a bit more structure. These are my thoughts and I would love to get your opinion as well.

The issue isn’t the mission as much as it is getting people on the public server. No potential recruit wants to play on a empty server.

But the mission is still a huge part of who joins the server to begin with, I don't know anyone who would join an insurgency server or liberation without knowing anyone inside it begin with. But I do know that's the case with Invade and Annex. Also because Invade and Annex offers new players a easy way into a mild version of realism with the structure etc

Agreed,  BMO - Lets get a good version of this mission loaded onto the Public server!  We need better results from our Public server if we wish to pull more potential soldiers from ingame!

I like I&A and Domination more, but they require a good group of people. They'd be great for an official (and well publicized) "pub night" event, or for a server that already has a good player count. 

 

Public servers have higher counts during the weekend so one of those missions could be run from Fri to Sun. It'll only be successful if the unit makes a push to get their people to show up and play. Also, running a side by side modded server dilutes the effort since mod-lovers will gravitate towards that server (if at all) while most pubbers won't bother downloading a humongous modpack for each server they play at.

 

There are a good number other big-scale coop missions that could be played at the unit level in order to attract COOP players. An additional advantage is that the unit is tested in an environment where the Zeus "double-bias" effect is not present. Forward Edge of the Battle Area, for example.

I have to agree that I&A could really boost the population on the public server and give us a steady flow of recruits or at least representation. But in order for this to actually grow and to attract people it has to be done well, that means not only changing the server's gamemode. A staging area has to be set up, vehicle bays/spawns elected and so forth. A currency system of points, rewarding the players who play a few missions or get a bunch of kills could also be added to add more goal and a greater sense of risk and responsibility when you use those points to spawn in a vehicle (this system example is directly from the 77th JSOC server).

I definitely would enjoy hoping onto the public server more if it was Invade & Annex. Personally, I have lost interest with Liberation on public servers as now there is a more complex logistic chain which is personally detrimental to players for public stuff, but I&A is a classic and close to the original.

Agreeing with what's been said, the main reason I and others that I've spoken with don't get on the server is because the selection of game modes being generally disliked. I still hop on from time to time, but would be on much more if other more agreed upon game modes were available!

Gates, and hoops, and hurdles make things less attractive and fun. I play on public servers and I avoid those that have that sort of stuff. I want to play the way I want to play and there are plenty of servers out there that will just let me do that.

 The issue with this is more responsibility is not very interesting for people who want to just hop on and play. In addition, it allows for something else to get messed up.

Let's set up a date or a day of the week to Invade and Annex our Invade and Annex server.  ;)

 

Perhaps a Friday evening or Saturday afternoon (1600+), which are the days with the highest count of pubs looking for a match.
