Chief Warrant Officer 3 Derek Frost concludes more than five years of distinguished service with the 3rd Infantry Division Milsim, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to the Division and its Soldiers. CW3 Frost enlisted on 16 May 2021 and was assigned to Alpha Company, First Platoon, Third Squad as a Fireteam Member. From the beginning of his career, he demonstrated exceptional initiative and commitment to excellence, rapidly earning positions of greater responsibility. Over the course of his service, he served as a Fireteam Leader, Squad Medic, Forward Observer, Flight Leader, and Army Aviator, while also holding key staff positions within the Corps of Engineers as a Land Combat Support System Specialist, Technical Engineer, Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, and Warrant Officer in Charge. His dedication to professional development was evident throughout his career. CW3 Frost successfully completed numerous qualification courses, including Combat Lifesaver, Land Navigation, Airborne School, Warrior Leader Course, Combat Medic School, Ranger School, Squad Designated Marksman Course, Advanced Radio Communications, Air Assault School, Rotary Wing Aviator Training, Reforger Medical Qualification, and the UH-60 Black Hawk Advanced Airframe Course. He earned qualifications on both the AH-64 Apache and UH-60 Black Hawk, becoming one of the Division's most versatile aviation warrant officers. During his tenure with the Division, CW3 Frost participated in every major campaign spanning five years of continuous operations. His combat service included Operation Silver Guardian in Mali, Operation Blue Giant in Lithuania, Operation Crimson Sand in Turkey, Operation Northern Lights in Finland, the joint Operation Unified Dawn, Operation Egyptian Collapse in Egypt, and Operation Wet Feet in Georgia. Whether serving as an infantryman, medic, engineer, or aviator, he consistently displayed calm leadership, tactical competence, and an unwavering commitment to mission accomplishment. Throughout his career, CW3 Frost earned numerous decorations recognizing his service and dedication. Among these are the Defense Superior Service Medal, Air Medal (2nd Award), Joint Service Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Army Commendation Medal (3rd Award), Army Achievement Medal (2nd Award), Joint Service Achievement Medal, multiple awards of the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, and Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. His unit awards include the Presidential Unit Citation, Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the French Fourragère. His individual qualifications include the Combat Infantryman Badge, Combat Action Badge (Fourth Award), Ranger Tab, Basic Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Army Aviator Wings, numerous Expert Marksmanship qualifications, and multiple Overseas Service Bars. CW3 Frost's career reflects the adaptability and professionalism expected of the Division's Warrant Officer Corps. His willingness to mentor junior Soldiers, accept challenging assignments, and continually expand his technical expertise made him a respected leader across multiple branches and organizations within the Division. Whether in combat operations, aviation missions, engineering support, or leadership positions, he consistently exemplified the Division's standards of excellence. Over more than five years of faithful service, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Derek Frost helped shape the success of Alpha Company, the Corps of Engineers, and the 3rd Infantry Division Milsim as a whole. His professionalism and commitment to his fellow Soldiers have left a lasting impact that will continue well beyond his retirement. He will be retiring as a CW3 and receiving the ARCOM for his service to the unit.

For extraordinary heroism in aerial flight as the Pilot Gunner (CPG) aboard the MH-60M DAP during Operation Head of the Snake on 23 November 2025. CW2 Derek Frost displayed exceptional skill, professionalism, and bravery under fire while participating in a high-stakes combat operation in a hostile environment. As a critical member of the aircrew, Chief Warrant Officer 2 (CW2) Frost played an indispensable role in the successful neutralization of multiple high-value targets. His expert operation of the aircraft's advanced weapon systems and precise targeting assistance directly contributed to the air-to-air kill of an enemy aircraft, decisively eliminating a significant threat to coalition forces. CW2 Frost's outstanding coordination with the pilot and his rapid response to dynamic battlefield conditions ensured the success of this engagement. Furthermore, CW2 Frost's proficiency and calm under pressure were pivotal in the destruction of two surface-to-air missile (SAM) sites, eliminating a serious threat to U.S. and allied aviation assets in the region. His exceptional situational awareness and ability to provide accurate targeting information were crucial in the destruction of multiple enemy armored vehicles, neutralizing key threats to friendly ground forces and contributing significantly to the success of the operation. CW2 Frost's extraordinary courage, technical expertise, and unwavering commitment to mission success were instrumental in the defeat of enemy forces during Operation Head of the Snake. His selfless actions reflect great credit upon himself, the United States Army, and the Department of Defense. CW2t Frost’s dedication to duty and his exemplary performance in combat were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service.
