During shaping mission 11 PFC notice one of our recon humvees on fire notice recon was taking fire and one of them was down. 2LT Duck’s Humvee took a catastrophic damage from an enemy N-LAW leaving him in critical condition. Perez called his squad over as he rushed to the site laying down smoke coverage and setting up defensive positions around the injured soldier and disabled vehicle. His quick thinking and knowledge of setting up defensive positions were pivotal in defending the injured. Perez with the help of SGT Alther began life saving treatment on 2LT Duck. Without the PFC situation awareness we would have not known they were there, leaving them to their fate. PFC P.Perez has on many occasions used his experience as a LEO with a heightened sense of awareness to help relay battlefield information to the correct chain of command assisting the squads combat effectiveness while also saving lives.

During Mission “Little Bustard”, SPC Perez stepped up as an FTL when the FTL at the time stepped up as Squad lead, in the face of impossible odds, SPC Perez Shown excellent leadership skills while being able to eliminate countless foot mobiles, and a T-55, while suffering many wounds, and treating not only himself but friendlies as well.

For stepping up time after time SPC Perez has shown he is more than capable of taking the command of his fireteam when his Team Leader is downed or absent. His actions time and time again truly show his tactical capability on the field. SPC Perez's knowledge, and dedication are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military and reflect great credit upon himself, and Alpha Company within the 3rd Infantry.
