A M67 fragmentation was deployed to prevent a situation where a fire team would have taken severe casualties, which unfortunately resulted in a death of a high value hostage.
Areas of Strength
Inner-squad communication, AT and small arms accuracy, reaction times of the squad members to orders.
Areas of Weakness
Attendance, 4 members of the squad were absent without leave, 3 of which were recently enlisted personnel.
Suggested Improvements
Work with the recently enlisted personnel to improve both their attendance and dedication towards the unit.
Mission Summary
Scorpions attached to Spartans as we were both low on numbers with Staff Sergeant Kyle Skitz taking command of the merged squad. The squad mounted a CH-47 transport helicopter and were airlifted to Outpost and then proceeded to mount a M1132 and take lead position of the convoy. We moved to OP, to provide over watch, while other platoon elements moved in to assault the objective. Once platoon had established a foot hold we were ordered to move in. At this point we came into contact on the west and engaged. After the first objective had been cleared, we received information that friendly forces north east of the objective had been engaged by the enemy and were getting over run, the platoon proceeded to move and relieve the friendly elements in the area, eventually securing the town. After this the initial plan was changed to assault the last objective from the east rather than south. The platoon was successfully able to clear the objective. At this point all objectives were secured and we then moved to LZ for RTB. During the assault the squad successfully engaged and destroyed 1x T-34, 1x T-72, 2x BTR-60, in the process using 4x M136 (HEAT), 1x MAAWS HEAT 75 Round and taking no casualties.
