    KIA:

    • SGT D.Shade

    Areas of Strength

Town clearance speed - objectives were taken swiftly and sectors were quickly occupied by friendly forces. Widowmakers managed to cover a lot of ground and push the GSIM out of these hamlets with ease.
Jungle warfare - Enemy forces were quickly spotted and eliminated in the jungle before they could be a real threat to the platoon.
Mine and IED detection - Despite there being multiple minefields as well as boobytraps in doorways, there were no serious casualties.

    Areas of Weakness

Anti-tank - AT could use work, some of the enemy vehicles were operational and chewing into friendly forces for way too long.
Situational awareness - Security, especially in the second objective during the MCI, was lacking. Enemy individuals easily outflanked the CCP and caused even more damage to an already fractured platoon.

    Suggested Improvements

FPS was dreadful. We're pretty sure it has something to do with this map, but it's unbearable. If the next mission is anything like this, we may have to either go to a different map story-wise, or migrate to the ziwasogo that uses Arma2 assets.

    Mission Summary

Widowmakers landed at 7th Cav's position, south-east of OBJ Apache. The platoon moved straight north through the dense jungle, eventually hooking west to assault the objective due to the presence of a mine field to the south. Scorpions held northern security while Phoenix, Spartans and Ghosts assaulted the objective. Multiple AA pieces were found and destroyed. An ammo dump was also uncovered and blown up. After pushing through the objective, Widowmakers rendez-vous'd on the west side on the LOA line to set up for OBJ Mojaves.

    image.png

The assault on Mojaves was rough due to the awkward angle of approach. This was to avoid the minefields to the south and east sides of the objective. This caused a slowdown but nothing too dramatic. Squads took up their individual sectors and no major casualties were taken. Once again multiple AA pieces as well as enemy artillery were found and destroyed. After a re-insert from 3cab, Widowmakers faced north and went onto OBJ Cherokee.

    image.png

The assault on Cherokee was an uphill battle, literally and figuratively speaking. From the start another couple of AA emplacements were discovered and those were again prioritized. Once the squads got up to sector 1 and 3, a fairly modern main battle tank drove down the street and did a number on Scorpions and Ghosts, who were in S1 and S2 at the time. CAS was unavailable due to more enemy AA presence and AT seemed to have a hard time knocking it out. The impacted squads lost most of their members in that encounter. It took a hot minute to stabilize all the wounded, and since S4 and S2 weren't clear yet, enemies kept flanking the CCP trying to cause more damage. Eventually Phoenix took initiative to clear the rest of the town with a handful members from Spartans.

The surviving members from Ghosts and Scorpions were brought back up, and a big chunk of them re-inserted at LZ Mojaves. LZ Wet Bark was deemed unsuitable due to the dense tree canopy. Eventually troops redistributed their supplies and ammo, and the platoon moved to PL Delta in the west to assault the final objective, OBJ Koroa.

OBJ Koroa went quite smoothly. The terrain was advantageous and sectors were taken by the squads without much resistance. An enemy supply depot was detonated and the platoon awaited exfil. LZ Trench Foot, was also deemed unfit by 3CAB, an attempt to land was made but resulted in a broken chinook. The platoon marched south, to what used to be an enemy checkpoint, and a US convoy handed over their troop carrier trucks which Widowmakers used to move to FOB Bastion for debrief.
