    Objectives

    Patrol southern outskirts of Forecahira, capture industrial complex (OBJ Squirrel) with minimal loss of infrastructure, clear GSIM garrison (OBJ Guinea Pig), and capture GSIM-controlled market (OBJ Marmoset).

    Areas of Strength

    React to Contact: Squads utilized suppressive fires and maneuver to counter-attack a large number of GSIM insurgents; and leaders maintained radio comms to coordinate section and platoon sized React to Contact drills against a determined enemy.

    Platoon Assault: Widowmakers employed textbook bounding techniques to attack multiple sectors of each objective simultaneously; and Squads maintained fire superiority to suppress enemy positions and cover movement.

    CQB: Fireteams and Buddy Teams conducted solid BD 6. tactics against enemy-held shacks, houses, and buildings; and elements worked together to flow through and clear structures of all sizes.

    Areas of Weakness

    PID/Fire Discipline: There were several Blue-on-Blue incidents; PID all targets before firing, and report contacts immediately to your combat supervisor, and keep in mind that ACE overheating is bugged--put your weapon on your back to stop cook-offs, or carry a spare barrel for machine guns.

    VBIED: Squads need to scan for enemy vehicles at all times--they can move onto our position very quickly; and if a civilian vehicle is moving erratically or approaching our position, fire a warning shot at 150m and engage the vehicle if it continues moving within 100m.

    Vehicle Security: Use a smoke screen to move vehicles while in contact; scan high ground, rooftops, and balconies for RPGers; and always dig adequate trenches to protect your vics from fire.

    Suggested Improvements

    First Platoon will train on target identification, perimeter defense, and vehicle protection. Squad Leaders should utilize Platoon resources to assist in training.

    Mission Summary

    First Platoon formed up in Koundara. As Soldiers were grabbing kit and loading vehicles, GSIM forces launched an attack on the north side of town. Widowmakers moved north, formed a platoon line on each side of the north-side road, and engaged contacts. Squads bound north and destroyed an enemy platoon with several armored vehicles and technicals. A GSIM Land Rover drove into town during a lull in the firing and exploded near the vehicle staging point, producing light casualties.

    Widowmakers mounted up and moved north to patrol Forecahira. During movement to the southwest side of town, the Platoon came to a minefield, taking several casualties. The Platoon shifted east back onto the road and formed a line on each flank. Using fire and maneuver, Squads began breaching sectors of OBJ Squirrel and clearing contacts. During clearance, Soldiers triggered the detonation of an IED factory, resulting in some casualties and light damage to infrastructure.

    The Platoon continued north and cleared the city market and its environs, destroying a large number of hostiles and capturing an EPW in OBJ Marmoset. Moving block by block through each sector, Squads cleared several dozen buildings. From there, Widowmakers continued pushing west into OBJ Guinea Pig, clearing its sectors in short order. After scouring the area for intel and transferring custody of the EPW to Knighthawk, we mounted up and returned to Koundara for debrief. The mission started at 1445 and ended at 1735. Mission was a COMPLETED.
