    Areas of Strength

Squad members continuing to lead Squad drills seems to be a big hit. CPL Winters showed us some Latvian tactics that went along with breaking contact and overall we were able to practice our movements in controlled and precise ways.

    Areas of Weakness

Incorporation with the Stryker in the lesson plan should have been covered earlier in the lesson and used in the examples. When we implemented it against pop-up targets some personnel were confused by what and where it was supposed to be.

    Suggested Improvements

Although we are incorporating our Stryker alot more, we need to start ingraining in all of our trainings. The Stryker needs to become an extension of our Squad and we need to start treating it that way.

    Mission Summary

Ghosts and Scorpions began Squad drills with a conversation about the right time to ask for CLS and Medic support. Members in the unit always seem to have issues where the moment they are hit they need to stop where they are, ask for help and bandage themselves up. This exposes to many people at one time and can lead to mass cas situations. After that, SGT Leng explained how Squads should react to any contact and the types of bounding for a break contact. PV2 Miller then ran us through a live walkthrough of breaking contact in alternate bounding. From there the Squads broke up and went to their (Dry Fire Lane) where we moved forward and took contact from a fortified enemy position (bunker systems with pop-up targets). We practiced shooting at pop-up targets while bounding back to a safe location. We then moved to the live fire lane where CPL Winters went over the key differences in urban and rural patrols. This focused on spacing, formations, and the use of cover. We then moved into the live fire lane where the two Squads worked together to clear out an area up to an OBJ. We met little contact and our patrols for clearing the area were very effective in eliminating same sized elements. Once we reached the OBJ we noticed it was a heavily fortified position with large amounts of reinforcements in adventitious terrain. We then implemented Squad element sized Alternate bounding back to a safe location and conducted AAR's afterwards.
