    Can you commit your time to our unit?


    1. Ability to attend at least 60% or more of our mandatory events. These consist of:
    2. Squad Drills; Every Saturday @ 1500 EST
    3. Operation/FTX; Every Sunday @ 1500 EST
    4. Ceremony; Every first Sunday of the month @ 1300 EST
    5. Our unit pushes for 100% accountability of our soldiers, meaning if you can't make an event, your Squad Leader needs to know you won't be there. Filing of a Temporary Pass Request (TPR) is a way you inform your Command you won't be present at one of the mandatory events listed above.


    What are the minimum requirements to join the 3rd Infantry Division Realism Unit?


    1. Must be able to maintain 60% attendance per month (Times listed above)
    2. Minimum age is 15, not debatable, no exceptions
    3. At age 15 you are enlisted into our Delayed Entry Program (DEP), in which you enter into a probationary period of 30 days
    4. At age 16 or older, you are enlisted as normal.
    5. You must have a working microphone
    6. Must have TeamSpeak 3
    7. Must have one of the following games to join:
    8. Arma 3 (DLCs are not required however encouraged as you may mix out on some "Fun" ops
    9. Must be willing to play in a Military and Tactical Realism Unit
    10. Must be willing to follow the chain of command and take orders told to you by your ranking members.
    11. Upon completion of New Soldier Orientation, you will be assigned to a Squad and you must train/ drill with that group. If you cannot attend the training times of your assigned Squad due to work or some other real-life event, you must be excused by your Squad Leader by submitting a Temporary Pass Request (TPR). This is explained during your New Soldier Orientation which is provided by your assigned recruiter once your enlistment application is posted.
    12. Current training happens on Saturdays (Squad drills as well as advanced schools such as OSUT, Airborne School, Leadership course, etc) and Sundays (Platoon Field Training Exercises or Combat Missions).
    13. General times for both days range from 1200 EST to 1800 EST
    14. You must complete OSUT (One Station Unit Training) also known as Basic Training and Advanced Infantry Training within your first 30 days of enlistment.
    15. Must not be listed inactive (AWOL) or request to be placed on Leave of Absence (LOA) before completion of OSUT (One Station Unit Training). this will result in an Entry-Level Separation discharge from the 3rd Infantry Division Realism Unit and you can reenlist when you have the proper time needed of you to be here.
    16. Must be active on the forum 1 time a week. Your Squad Leader will conduct accountability checks to ensure you are Reporting In through our Operation Center via our PERSCOM module.

    18. Must not have a VAC or Game Ban on record within the last 365 days.

    NOTE: Minimum requirements 'issues' must be resolved within 72 hours of enlistment application or the enlistee will be DISCHARGED or DROPPED.

    Which do I choose to download?

    It depends on which operating system you are currently running: Windows, Linux, or Mac OS X. If you are currently running Windows, it will depend on whether you are running a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system. Note: Teamspeak does offer mobile platforms to keep you online while AFK.


    What is the 3rd Infantry Division Realism Unit Teamspeak 3 address, and how do I connect?


    The 3rd Infantry Division Realism Unit Teamspeak 3 server is a public server operated by the 3rd Infantry Division Realism Unit and it is used for communicating while in-game and out of the game for meetings, training, and several other possibilities.     What are Teamspeak 3 Identities and how do I back them up?


    Teamspeak 3 identities are a type of authentication system that assigns a unique ID that the 3rd Infantry Division Realism Unit uses to identify its members. The Teamspeak 3 policy states you must use your identity at all times, including if you do a fresh install of either Teamspeak or your operating system, on a different computer, or while on your phone. You can export your current identity profile and save it somewhere safe like an email, flash drive, or even Dropbox.


    How to export your Teamspeak 3 Identity:


    1. Open up Teamspeak 3
    2. Click on the Tools menu and then Identities (Keyboard shortcut: Control+I)
    3. Click on the Default profile to make sure it's highlighted
    4. Click Export and Yes on the warning pop-up
    5. Save the profile to a secure area

    You can also create an account with Teamspeak under Tools - Options - myTeamspeak and this will save your Identity. Then, you can log in on any new computer, tablet, or phone, and all your saved bookmarks and information will be there.


    Increasing Security level


    A Teamspeak security level is a way for us to stop unwanted guests spamming our Teamspeak. Increasing your security level takes a few minutes, and requires some processing power to complete. The 3rd Infantry Division Realism Unit TeamSpeak server requires a security level of 25 to join.


    How to increase your Security Level

    1. Open up Teamspeak 3
    2. Click on the Tools menu and then Identities (Keyboard shortcut: Control+I)
    3. Click on your profile, and at the bottom click Go Advanced, click Improve
    4. Set the required level to 25, then click Start and wait


    How to connect to the 3rd Infantry Division Realism Unit Server:

    1. Click on Bookmarks, and then select Manage Bookmarks (Keyboard shortcut: Control+B)
    2. Click on Add Bookmark and add the following information
    3. Bookmark Name: 3rd Infantry Division Realism Unit
    4. Nickname: See "Choosing a Name" below - Default should be FI.Lastname (IE: J.LaFlash)
    5. Server Nickname or Address: teamspeak.3rdinf.us
    6. Leave "Server Password" empty
    7. Click Apply/ OK


    What is Push-to-Talk (PTT) and how do I configure it?

    Push-to-talk (PTT), also known as press-to-transmit, is a method of having conversations or talking on half-duplex communication lines, including two-way radio, using a momentary button to switch from voice reception mode to transmit mode. PTT is a requirement upon enlistment and as you gain permissions on our Teamspeak Server you may earn the right to have Voice Activation.


    How to configure Push-to-Talk (PTT):


    1. Launch Teamspeak 3
    2. Click on the menu bar. Select Tools and then Options
    3. Click on the Capture tab on the right side of the window
    4. Select Push-To-Talk and then hit a button to set your hotkey.
    5. Hit Apply and OK to save and then test it out.

    Note: Capture Mode and Capture Device will vary depending on your headset


    Choosing Your Name

    When you are choosing a name to enlist in the 3rd Infantry Division Realism Unit, you must choose a realistic forename and surname. This does not necessarily have to be your real forename and surname, but whichever names you choose to enlist with must be plausible.



    You may NOT choose any of the following:


    1. Historically important names
    2. Actors
    3. Cartoon names
    4. Names of importance from novels, television, etc
    5. Religious names


    An example of an appropriate name would be

    Forename: Daniel

    Surname: Johnson


    An example of an inappropriate name would be

    Forename: Luke

    Surname: Skywalker


    Note: Upon enlistment, you will be referred to by your First initial and Last name.


    Finding your Steam ID


    1. Step 1.
    2. Open the Steam application. Navigate to your profile by clicking on your username in the top right. Then copy your URL (Highlight it and Control - C.

    2. If your URL includes the long numerical value between profiles/ and home, then this number is your 64-bit Steam ID. If not, you have set a custom URL. Go to Step 3.

    4. Go to https://steamid.xyz and paste in the entire URL collected during Step 1. and click submit. Your page will reload to something similar to the following:
