Record Text
![]() Throughout mission Savanna, First Squad was continuously attacked on all fronts by not only enemy infantry, but also tanks, helicopters, fixed wing aircraft, and artillery. Several times during the defensive operations, the Private, being brand new to the unit, would sacrifice himself in order to save and protect other members of the squad. Alpha Team had pushed over to a new Defensive Position to set it up as a fall back position when they were overrun with up to 3 squads worth of infantry, as soon as word reached PVT Fox, without hesitation he rotated around a small hill with his Automatic Rifleman at his side and just the two of them were able to give enough suppressive fire to let Bravo Team push in to save the members of Alpha Team that were down. During that period the PVT was able to keep the enemy infantry at bay until Alpha was moved back to their previous defensive position to continue working on medical. Another period of time came where the PVT was pulling security watching the Eastern Flank of First Squad, around this time, an enemy squad was able to make it up the hillside on the Western Flank using trees and mass foliage to initiate an attack on the Platoon Stryker resulting in it exploding and taking out 4 friendly forces including some of Platoon Headquarters. Without hesitation the PVT shifted from his position to fire into the enemy squad in order to suppress them for medical personnel to get to the wounded soldiers and move them to a safe location. After the enemy were wiped out, he continued to hold security ensuring the safety of the wounded friendly soldiers despite any injuries he had sustained. The PVT’s fearlessness and ability to assist was above and beyond the call of duty, in helping to save First Squad multiple times throughout the mission.
