During Mission Shaping Effort #10, 1st Squad took heavy fire from the trenchline of OBJ December, during which the entirety of 1st Squad was wiped out, SPC Irwin being the last man in the squad was able to get on Platoon Net and inform the other squads of the mass cas as well as get help in eliminating the enemy forces. Unfortunately during this time SPC Irwin wasn’t able to save everyone and as the last man in the AO, began to take IDF and direct sniper fire. He was able to move around the IDF and sniper fire taking cover while moving back towards 1st Squads Stryker to defend with it and hold the position for the rest of the squad to come back to. SPC Irwin was able to successfully hold his position throughout the fight while alone, until the rest of the squad was able to re-insert.
