Each year on June 27, National PTSD Awareness Day serves as an important reminder that not all injuries are visible. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder affects millions of individuals, including service members, veterans, first responders, and civilians who have experienced traumatic events. This day provides an opportunity to encourage those who may be struggling to seek support.

PTSD can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. While commonly associated with military service and combat experiences, PTSD can affect anyone regardless of age, background, or profession.

National PTSD Awareness Day encourages all of us to educate ourselves about PTSD, support those who may be affected, and create an environment where individuals feel comfortable reaching out for assistance. Whether through professional support, peer support, family involvement, or community resources, recovery is possible, and no one has to face these challenges alone.

As we recognize National PTSD Awareness Day, it's important to remember that not all wounds can be seen. By looking out for one another and fostering understanding, we can help create a community where those facing these challenges feel supported and respected.
