Mission Company CTC Mission 3- Defensive Operations 21APR24

    OVERALL CTC SUMMARY:

Finish Government has allowed us to occupy forces on an island of Napf in the Baltic sea with the Swedish forces as a staging position in response to the riots in the country. Napf island is a small island that has a population of roughly 40,000 people on it. Due to its large amounts of unused land, the Finnish Government have utilized it for large scale training exercises and a staging position for allied military’s before they come to the mainland.

    Current Situation:

Our CTC (Combined Training Center) rotation will cover a 4 week evaluation period on the island of Napf, a training area in the Gulf of Bothnia owned by Finland. Once we complete this CTC, we will be certified to deploy in support of the Finnish Government.

The Finnish military currently has the Kainuu BDE relocated in the North Eastern Military Base in order to give the Swedish and US Forces plenty of space to train in. They have identified locations no Swedish and US forces can go into on the map by red areas. Additionally they have a multiple BN’s of Irregulars located throughout the island being trained by the Kainuu BDE. Last week the Finnish military reported US forces shooting down one of their drones. They have expressed displeasure and have stated they will not tolerate another situation like this. Additionally, two other Finnish BDE's (on mainland Finland) have openly been calling for a Government Regime change. The Coalition is assuming these are just verbal bluffs and do not expect this to become any bigger then it is already.

The Swedish forces have already occupied the South West portion with the Norrland Dragoon Regiment. The US forces have already staged some initial equipment but most forces are located in the Naval Convoy to the Southwest of the Island.

Week 1 was an expedient deployment from ships onto the island directly into a movement into the training AO. From there we conducted convoy operations to evaluate the Company on their ability to face enemy forces while on the move and to transport equipment to various locations. We identified that the units can operate in convoy operations as necessary but need to be more deliberate to avoid identified ambush locations.

Week 2 was an offensive operation from the airfield across the southern portion of the island.  This was to test the Company on their ability to conduct a proper cordon and search, offensive operation on a complex objective, and a movement to contact. The Company was only able to fully complete the Cordon and Search and attack through a complex obstacle and failed to finish the Movement to contact. We have identified that the company can conduct offensive operations, but will need to coordinate for better effects going forward.

Company Evaluation has no "Big Picture" Enemy AO information.

3: Enemy situation (Area of Operation):

The enemy force seen today will be a collections of rioters located across the AO. They currently hold the Road running east to west in the northern portion of the AO, giving them access to all routes running south towards the town of Hirsegg. The enemy’s plan is to move south and occupy Hirsegg before friendly forces leave the area. The Enemy will have roughly 4 platoons of Infantry/Light Technicals, 2 Platoons of BTR’s with Infantry, and a Platoon of Tanks and BMP’s they will use against friendly forces.

War Eagles will hold the defensive perimeter and prevent any enemy forces from entering the town of Hirsegg until 3CAB has evacuated all resources out of it. Do not let the enemy have effects into the town as much as possible until told to withdraw.

    8: Rules of Engagement

    - This area is a training ground but still houses civilians. Enemy forces will be clearly identified in woodland camouflage. Any forces in snow camouflage are considered friendly due to other units training on the island.
    - Any areas with a red shade over them are considered off limits by the Finnish forces and are not to be entered.
    - Enemy uniformed personnel are free to engage within the assigned AO. Any engagements outside of the Company AO must be approved by Company leadership. No indirect fires (IDF, Aerial, and Mk19) within 250 meters of any building unless confirmed there is no civilian presence or approval from Company leadership. Civilians are not part of the CTC, so do not interact with them.
    - Due to limitations of supply into the region, Hellfires on drones have been limited. Only 4 hellfires are authorized for this mission.
    - Due to continued civilian use of the airspace, all military aircraft will be held to 2000 meters AGL or less. Finnish forces have informed us that any military equipment that breaks the restriction are subject to engagement.
