    Strange Bazaar
    Situation
First Platoon has successfully cleared Patrol Area BASTY, disrupting ISIS smuggling operations in the southwestern AO. A Company of Turkish Special Forces have established OPs in the western mountains, confirming that ISIS has abandoned the area. Alpha Company also captured and destroyed hundreds of enemy weapons, including over 3 tons of high explosives and IED making materials. This action has significantly decreased the enemy's ability to hit us with IEDs in the western sector.
Intelligence captured during the patrol revealed al-Qurashi’s directive to shift east into Cukurca’s central mountains in order to escape NATO pressure. Although staggered, the enemy continues to operate with significant combat power. S-2 suspects that the bulk of ISIS forces in the district are now concentrated in the south-central mountains. While the rugged terrain they hold limits motorized and mechanized operations, they still have some influence in the villages through terror, blackmail, and bribes.
    Mission
Alpha Company is ordered to move into Musul’s western outskirts to serve as a blocking force for the Turkish 2/1/2 3rd SPD, which is conducting a security sweep in OBJ Kan Dökme, the town of Piransehr. NATO has reliable information that ISIS is planning to launch a coordinated attack against Turkish forces in the northern Musul Valley, and all BLUFOR are on high alert.
The area is flat and densely populated with a multicultural Turkish-Kurdish community. A number of towns and the regional capital of Musul sit along the Great Zab River here. Vehicular and pedestrian traffic is heavy, and the area of a crossroads for the district’s sheepherders.

    Presence Patrol #2
    Situation
Alpha Company effectively stopped the ISIS complex attack in Musul Valley last week, building tactical momentum in a large-scale engagement against an onslaught of suicide attacks. Enemy BDA was 89 confirmed KIA and 19 armored and soft-skinned vehicles destroyed. However, elements of the Turkish 3rd Special Forces Division also took significant losses with 14 KIA and 20+ WIA. Morale in the Turkish 1/3 3SPD is very low, and rumor has it they want the US to take over security operations in the district for the remainder of the year.
SIGINT has confirmed prior intel sources that the bulk of remaining ISIS forces are located in the south-central mountains of Çukurca.
NATO Intellgence Fusion Centre assets recorded a satellite phone call from Tariq Bakkal to ISIS leader Abu al-Hussein al-Husseini al-Qurashi in Syria claiming that his forces were running out of vehicles, fuel, and explosives following the failed attack on Musul Valley. Bakkal was known to Turkish Army Intelligence as a ISIS messenger during the Battle of Baghuz Fawqani. He appears to have climbed the ranks of dwindling ISIS leadership and may be the current regional commander. He has requested additional reinforcements and supplies to continue the jihad in the district.
    Mission
Alpha Company "War Eagles" is ordered to move to the Çey Köyü Valley to probe enemy positions there. First Platoon "Widowmakers" will convoy to the north entrance of Çey Köyü Valley and patrol south. Infantry leaders must speak with villagers in OBJs Vineyard and Eden to build working relationships against ISIS forces and gain intel on recent enemy movements. Squads should each bring humanitarian aid bags to distribute to locals. 3CAB "Falcons" will deploy transport, resupply, and CAS aircraft in support of ground operations.
From there, continue south to OBJs Keshkek and Kashar, two mountaintop observation posts abandoned by Turkish National Guard forces. These positions are to be captured by the enemy unless we secure then for the Turkish 3rd SPD. Although small, each OP is well-fortified and offers excellent fields of view and fires up and down the valley. S-2 suspects ISIS forces will seize these positions to secure smuggling operations moved eastward follow the past three weeks of NATO offensive operations in the west and northwest.

    Little Bustard
    Situation
During last week’s presence patrol into the heart of ISIS territory, First Platoon captured an enemy officer, Ahmed Khan Halabji, and recovered laptops, radios, and maps detailing ISIS positions and strategic plans against NATO forces in Çukurca. This intel shows a buildup of enemy personnel and equipment at an old airstrip located on the Syrian border, southeast of FOB Eagle Eye. ISIS commander al-Qurashi has moved an estimated company-size element to the location to reinforce tactical and logistical operations. These forces include a number of suicide drones, rocket artillery vehicles, and AA emplacements. He is also sending additional reinforcements from Syria’s Al-Hasakah Province to prevent a collapse in Turkey. The new enemy contingent is estimated to arrive in-country between 20-22MAY23.
    Mission
First Platoon “Widowmakers” is ordered to capture the border airstrip and destroy ISIS forces there. Scout and infantry elements will insert via helicopter at LZ Poacher and LZ Stalker. From there, First Platoon will move into position for an assault on OBJ Bird Nest, the ISIS held airstrip. Ground elements are tasked with capturing the airbase and destroying ISIS suicide drone and rocket artillery positions in order to diminish the enemy’s ability to attack NATO forces in Cukurca. Aviation elements are tasked with reconnaissance, infil/exfil, and CAS. Every unit of Alpha Company must coordinate their communications, fires, and movements to maximize combat power and destroy a superior enemy force.
Rules of Engagement: Military-age male with weapon, mixed camo uniform, and combat kit. Suicide bombers are likely; warning shots are authorized for incoming vehicles at 100 m and incoming dismounts at 50 m.

    Presence Patrol #3
    Situation
Third Infantry Division has severely disrupted ISIS operations in Çukurca. Hitting the border airbase last week at OBJ Bird Nest, Alpha Company “War Eagles” has prevented enemy smuggling operations from moving additional men and materiel from Syria. ISIS regional commander Tariq Bakkal is effectively cornered, but S-2 has information that he has moved into the mountains to evade capture. Although the work continues, this may be the beginning of the end of ISIS in the district.
However, US, NATO, and Turkish intelligence assets have uncovered a contract between A Syrian transport company and Iranian militia to move undisclosed cargo to the Syrian border via airlift. Iran is a major regional power and maintains influence in many other nations' affairs. Although preliminary analyses are unclear, it is possible that Iranian interests are support a common enemy in ISIS against US forces in Syria and Turkey.
    Mission
Alpha Company “War Eagles” is ordered to patrol Çukurca Valley to locate and clear ISIS forces that were scattered in the wake of Mission: Little Bustard. If all objectives are accomplished, this will be the last hump through the wilderness in Çukurca.
Thanks to work by the Turkish 3rd Special Forces Division, S-2 has reliable followup information from a Kurdish militia in the Çukurca Valley. The militia leader stated that ISIS fighters are hiding in POI Trash Dump, a village located in the southwest area of the valley. SIGINT confirms a significant Arab presence there and also suggests that this element is planning to move northeast out of the district before NATO forces can find it.
Fifth Squad "Wizards" and Sixth Squad "Reapers" are ordered to move out to the ridge west of the road between POI Trash Dump and the Kurdish militia garrison. Recon the route and report all movements in and out of the POI. Be prepared to ambush and destroy ISIS forces to prevent escape from the AO. Provide additional scouting and recon as the patrol develops in order to destroy any hostile contacts found on the POI.
The bulk of First Platoon "Widowmakers" will patrol through OBJ Cesspit, OBJ Dirtball, and OBJ Outhouse while recon elements confirm potential enemy positions. Each objective is a small, impoverished Kurdish village. The villagers are likely to cooperate with US forces in exchange for food and medical supplies. Attempt to gain additional human intel on the disposition of ISIS forces that scattered into the valley.
3CAB "Falcons" is tasked with recon, transport, resupply, and CAS as needed by Company and Platoon elements. In addition, Turkish 1/3, 3rd SPD has requested 3CAB support to airlift several vehicles from the Musul East Barracks to the border airbase secured last week at OBJ Bird Nest.
