    Objectives:

    • Ensure the successful civilian retreat of Ari Boudoumari organized by LDAP.
    • Clear ISIS groups who retook villages to the north-west of Ari Boudoumini.

    Accidents:

    WIA:

    • SFC C.Brock

    Equipment:

    • 1x Stryker HMG with plow destroyed beyond repair
    • 2x Stryker HMG destroyed beyond repair

    Areas of Strength:

    • Time management, completing objectives in-time and ending the mission exactly when planned.
    • PID in the first half when the enemy was mixed in with IDAP, there was no blue on green.
    • Getting anti-tank online and on target quickly before it could do a lot of damage.
    • Convoy ops. It was one of the first time all truck commanders were quickly on net which allowed us to leave base 5 minutes early.

    Areas of Weakness:

    • MCI and loss of equipment. The platoon is too reckless from time to time for short gains which causes slowdowns in the long run.
    •

    Suggested Improvements:

Re-insert of 2 strykers took 20+ minutes while the ETA was ~5. If that was known beforehand, there would have been different decisions to keep the platoon moving during the re-insert.

An unauthorized incident with CAS lead to additional wounds on friendly personnel that were already in an MCI situation.

Despite these two points that happened to involve 3CAB, they did a really good job in supporting the company. Completing multiple fast and pin-point CAS calls as well as swift re-inserts of personnel.

    Overall Outcome:

    Positive

    Summary:

Widowmakers formed convoy at FOB Iron Wall and drove west to the IDAP refugee camp. When Widowmakers arrived, the IDAP was in active combat with ISIS members. Squads took different sectors in town and drove back the ISIS members, allowing all refugees and civilians to escape the area.

After confirmation that everyone was out, Widowmakers formed up at the NW side of town and drove the enemy back all the way to Ariboudoumari. During the entry of Ariboudoumari, an enemy mk19 engaged Widowmaker squads but wasn't able to do any serious damage. A squad rushed in prematurely and an RPG took out their Stryker. Eventually all squads moved in and cleared the town.

Next were the towns of Kawiya Boukar Souri and Kaeya. Static weapons at Kaeya made it difficult to engage Kawya. One Stryker was lost on the way to Kawiya due to a small ambush. CAS was called in on enemy vehicles moving into the AO. Kawya was a bit of a death trap. Small alleys with tall buildings around it, surrounded by open ground, made it difficult to gain a foothold. Eventually squads made entry and cleared the area. Most of the buildings got destroyed by enemy weapons.

Kaeya was a quick wipe, since most of the forces there assisted in the defense of Kawya or were engaged by the air assets in the AO. Leaving Kaeya was more difficult. Reinforcements from Birri Noula came down the road and for a while the platoon was surrounded by enemy infantry. The platoon dug in while waiting for new Strykers to arrive.

Finally Widowmakers, with their fresh vehicles, moved up to Birri Boula and cleared the town. Again it was mostly empty because they sent the bulk of their garrison south to defend previous villages. Birri Noula had a self propelled gun in the center of town which was detonated by explosive charges and Widowmakers were taken back to base by 3CAB.

Overall, mission success. The civilians and refugees are safe, IDAP suffered minimal casualties, and ISIS lost a lot of ground in the area.
