    Areas of Strength

Training went very well. The PFC instructors went above and beyond in knowledge and detail. We will continue to go forward with having students teach classes with TL and SL oversight.

    Areas of Weakness

IDF class could use a little more work. Although it was effective the knowledge was not fully embraced by the squad and the live fire portion only led to improper grouping of soldiers after they made their survivability moves.

    Suggested Improvements

Rework on React to IDF later in the month.

    Mission Summary

Scorpions conducted react to IDF first in whihc we talked through the Squad SOP of a distance and direction dictated after IDF has landed. From there we practiced with a live fire portion where we used a small portion of forest to conduct the drills. Next we worked on suppressive fires with a class about rates of fire, types of fire and knowledge on the M240B and M249 weapon systems. We then practiced the rates of fire with pop-up targets and had everyone get a feel for the different rates of fire. We then moved onto React to contact, Squad Attack, and Break contact where we practiced all of them with pop up targets and smokes to ensure proper usage. Once the classroom portion was complete we went through 3 objectives where we used suppressive fires as we crossed a bridge, Squad attack on a small town, React to contact in the woods where we were hit by a small ENY Squad, and Break Contact after a valuable target was destroyed in a town. The Live fire portion was very well done and the Squad showed well learned processes that will now be utilized in Operations.
