    Objectives

First Platoon was tasked with training on convoy operations while distributing aid to civilians, establishing rapport with locals, and clearing villages. 3CAB conducted sling load training and supported operations on the ground.

    Accidents

Unsafe vehicle handling resulted in some collisions.

    Areas of Strength

Server performance was good. Stability and frames were up compared to the past three weeks. Widowmakers improved their convoy operations capabilities over the course of the exercise.

    Areas of Weakness

There were an unrealistic number of OPFOR in some positions, which resulted in MCI and an unbalanced level of forces with consideration to the training environment and scenarios. The four Platoon objectives were widely spaced, which was too great to cover in the time allotted. 3CAB should conduct flight operations away from the Platoon during briefs and debriefs; at least 500m spacing is needed.

    Suggested Improvements

Company HQ will work with S-2 to ensure better intelligence products for mission planning, particularly in regards to time requirements, composition of enemies forces, etc.; and coordinate with 3CAB to ensure continuity of training with no unnecessary disruptions.

    Mission Summary

Widowmakers convoyed to OBJ Elder to secure abandoned ordnance. From there, they traveled to OBJ Old Man to establish good relations with local citizens, but received contact from insurgents who had taken a number of hostages in the town. Soldiers cleared these contacts and secured several hostages. Once this was complete, the Platoon continued convoying southeast toward OBJ Senior, an unknown town. En route, however, the convoy was ambushed by a section of insurgents, resulting in the loss of 2x Strykers with multiple wounded, including leadership elements. Half the platoon was fixed by withering enemy fires until reinserts and aviation could arrive to begin suppressing enemy positions and support recovery efforts. Once enemy contacts were destroyed, Endex was called due to time constraints, and Widowmakers RTB.
