    Objectives

First Platoon “Widowmakers” is ordered to assault the enemy held town of Chizhov (OBJ Ashflow). Secure the dockyard and search for evidence of the Tsar Bomba. If possible, capture an EPW for interrogation.

First Platoon will then assault the regional airport (OBJ Basalt) to prevent enemy air attack and/or potential escape of enemy leadership by air.

Once this is complete, assault the city of Miroslavl (OBJ Caldera).

Locate and secure the Tsar Bomba, and clear all objectives of enemy forces. If possible, capture Wagner Group commander MAJ Danilo Kuzman. If intelligence indicates that the Tsar Bomba is located outside of the objectives, First Platoon must be ready to send a team to secure it where it lies.

3CAB will provide aerial support with reinserts, resupplies, and CAS. One airframe must be prepped and ready on the tarmac at all times to fly infantry to secure the Tsar Bomba.

    Suggested Improvements

Battle Drill 3 - Breaking Contact as the platoon was unable to effectively utilize this battle drill upon taking heavy casualties on OBJ Caldera.

    Mission Summary

Alpha company first platoon stepped off from FOB Watchdog towards the first objective, "Ashflow".  4th squad "Phoenix" together with 2nd squad "Ghosts" moved side by side coming from the northeast towards objective Ashflow and cleared out the town of Chizhov. Upon reaching the southeast edge of the town, we encountered a checkpoint blockade outfitted with an above ground bunker but was left unguarded. Although, a pressure plate mine was discovered by the fireteam assigned to check and clear out the said checkpoint and was quickly defused. 4th squad then pushed forward clearing the houses all the way towards the docks on the southern part of the town.  We encountered a motorized infantry squad, and multiple infantry squads within the objective which was swiftly eliminated as the squad pushed the southern sector. We then discovered an unmanned T-72 inside one of the hangars which was then decommissioned by setting up explosives and initiating a controlled explosion upon making sure that the squads had vacated the proximity.   during the town clearing, 4th squad suffered 2 casualties which is the SL and 2IC. The 3IC was then quick to report the situation and took over command until Phoenix leadership was up and running.  After clearing the town, we then took accurate shots from an armed MI-8 which was then eventually shot down.  Due to the location of the crash which was near 4th squad, we then proactively secured the crash site and shot down 3 surviving crew members that fought back which fired the first shot.  After making sure that the town was clear, we then rallied on the western part of the town and headed towards the 2nd objective.

On the way to the 2nd objective, "Basalt", we held our Stryker and setup a mounted security as 2nd squad pushed and drove over the bridge towards a man made blockade which turned out to be made by civilians. After a little commotion, 2nd squad was able to push past the blockade which then prompted us to push forward and cross the bridge ourselves. But, upon reaching the man made blockade, a civilian stood in front of our Stryker which caused us to halt and give verbal orders to move away from the vehicle.  On the verge of commanding 1 fireteam to subdue and arrest the civilian, the designated Stryker driver found the chance to swiftly move left and go around the civilian which made us catch up to 2nd squad and resume the convoy towards LD Alpha. When all squads were in position,  4th squad together with 2nd squad moved together and advanced towards the east of objective Basalt where we encountered  a motorized enemy squad.  Upon assaulting the compound where the enemy contact was located, 4th squad Phoenix was unable to swiftly get in an assaulting position due to friendly fire suppression towards the area where we were advancing and In turn, this gave the enemy BRDM a chance to swivel their turret which caused 2 casualties and heavy injuries to the members of 4th squad.  Eventually, the compound was cleared of enemy contacts and became a CCP where everybody was medically taken cared of by the platoon medic and the CLS's.

Upon consolidating with the rest of the platoon, 4th squad was then tasked to setup an SBF position towards the northeast of the runway in objective Basalt. Upon clearing the contacts on the airfield, 4th squad sent a fireteam to the highest tower in the middle of the airfield which turned out to be an enemy military installation with intel such as a laptop and a map. After retrieving the said intel, 4th squad pushed towards the west together with the rest of the platoon towards objective "Caldera" which is the town of Miroslavi.  Upon setting up an SBF position towards the east of the town, an order to withdraw was received.  Upon withdrawing and moving towards the rally point, we visually saw a squad getting pinned down just on the eastern edge of the town where the assigned squad to retrieve the captured member was instructed to go to.  4th squad Phoenix then turned around to assist the squad where the Stryker was strategically positioned to watch the northern and southern part of the town while I sent in a fireteam to the pinned downed squad's position to assist on breaking contact.   Ultimately, other squads came in to help as well.  At this point in time, platoon leadership seemed to have taken hits and was incapacitated which discombobulated the tactical order of the platoon.  3CAB had a chinook came in to extract the squads.  Members rushed the chinook without smokes or usage of bounding maneuvers which produced casualties.  I ordered 4th squad's Stryker to advance to the LZ and provide smoke coverage using the Stryker's counter measures but due to the overwhelming incoming fire, the chinook had to dust off leaving the casualties on the ground with a few capable soldiers to fight.  With the help of 1SG, we ordered everyone to get the wounded into the 4th squad's Stryker while the rest was continuously throwing smokes in order to continuously conceal the Stryker that was out in the open to load everyone up.   Once it was certain that everyone was in, I ordered the Stryker to fall back to the airport where we were then picked up by the chinook for extract to FOB Watchdog.
