Sgt. Michael Daniels, a firefighter from 24th Ordnance Company, 3rd Sustainment Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division learns how to fill a portable water tank during drafting operations training, Feb. 6 on Fort Stewart.

Drafting operations is a term used to describe a fire engine that is using a static water source to assist firefighting operations when a fire hydrant is not available.  During the training, crews learned how to properly secure an effective draft, convert from the internal water source in the tank of the engine to the external water source, and flow the deluge gun. This skill is one that is not used frequently, but requires continuous training to remain in a high state of readiness.
