On the 19th of March, 2003 (Or 20th of March at 5:34 AM Baghdad Time), Operation Iraqi Freedom began with the surprise invasion of Iraq, with no formal declaration of war by a coalition of approximately 40 countries. The invasion of Iraq was led by General Tommy Franks, however, he'd retire a few months after the fall of Baghdad, with it taking effect on July 7th, 2003. The reasons for the invasion include allegations of the possession of WMDs, harboring al-Qaeda, etc. Operation Iraqi Freedom would end in 2011.
