    Magic Carpet
    Situation
Units of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) have staged five complex attacks on NATO forces in Turkey this week using infantry, armor, rocket artillery, and drones. Kurdish insurgents partially destroyed a fuel depot in the vicinity of Incirlik Airbase and struck NATO and Turkish forces at Konya and Kürecik with multiple attacks. Turkish Land Forces have attempted to push deeper into northern Iraq to attack Kurdish bases, but have come under devastating rocket artillery fires and IEDs.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has ordered the deployment of NATO Response Force units to Turkey. Earlier today, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin directed the Pentagon to send additional US troops to the country. NATO is preparing air strikes as ground forces establish security positions along the Turkey-Iraq border.
    Mission
Alpha Company “War Eagles” is ordered to assault and capture the PKK HQ at Mushorah. Infantry and cavalry elements will conduct an airborne landing in order to envelope enemy forces and maneuver onto the objective. Ground forces will land at DZ Sultan.
Second Platoon “Griffins” is tasked with raiding OBJ Ali and OBJ Barber in order to diminish enemy communications, command, and control and to secure the eastern flank of the objective area. From there, scouts will reconnoiter OBJ Despot and support the main assault on the airbase.
First Platoon “Widowmakers” will assault OBJ Crescent–the city of Mushorah–and the PKK HQ at OBJ Despot with the support of Second Platoon and 3CAB. Squads should attempt to capture EPW, particularly enemy officers.
3CAB “Falcons” is tasked with insertion of pathfinder and airborne elements, followed by transport, resupply, extraction, CAS, and possible medevac.
NATO aircraft will prepare OBJ Despot with precision strikes on enemy AA and aircraft prior to Alpha Company’s combined arms assault.
RULES OF ENGAGEMENT: Military age male with mixed camo uniforms, weapon, and Kurdistan flag patch. PKK insurgents use a number of 1990-2010 era surplus US weapons and equipment sold to Kurdish security forces during the war. Note that Turkish Land Forces are operating within 7 km northwest of OBJ Peacock and across the northwestern border area.

    Presence Patrol #9
    Situation
Alpha Company has completed an airborne drop into northern Iraq to support NATO operations against PKK/HPG insurgents. War Eagles are building a new FOB at the captured airbase overlooking Lagarak. The region’s population is majority Kurdish, but there are various ethnic, political, and religious factions within the AO, including Yazidis, Iranians, and Arabs.
Turkish Land Forces have established several checkpoints along the border to the northwest. Turkish Special Forces teams are also operating throughout the area. NATO IFC reports that Iranian Quds Force militants are increasingly active in the north.
    Mission
Alpha Company “War Eagles” is ordered to patrol east of FOB Myamura to establish checkpoints, distribute humanitarian aid, and gather human intelligence on enemy forces in the AO.
Second Platoon “Griffins” is tasked with route reconnaissance and overwatch on PA Foreigner, a cluster of Yazidi villages through which several regional MSRs intersect. Company HQ is also seeking more information on POI Caravan, a suspected PKK/HPG cache site.
First Platoon “Widowmakers” is tasked with patrols of OBJ Janitor and OBJ Salesmen, which saw some of the heaviest fighting last week. Squads will distribute humanitarian aid bags, mark/clear UXO, and obtain additional intel on Kurdish insurgents that were operating in the city.
3CAB “Falcons” is tasked with general aviation support, including ISR, CAS, transport, and resupply. PKK/HPG insurgents are known to move via civilian vehicles, and SIGINT indicates large scale movement of insurgents and small cells following the airborne assault.

    Twisted Pike
    Situation
Two weeks after 3rd Infantry Division landed in northern Iraq, Kurdish militants have responded with increased attacks on Turkish border posts as part of the general uprising against NATO forces in the region. The main force of the PKK 2-4 RGB remains active in central and eastern Uzbin Valley and is moving west to drive a wedge between US and Turkish positions in the AO.
NATO-led multinational special operations teams are also operating in the area and tracking a buildup of Iranian militia to the north along the Iranian border. The NATO Intelligence Fusion Centre (IFC) indicates that popular Kurdish sentiments are opposed to NATO and its operations in Kurdistan. Militants from various sects and political groups (i.e., PKK, Kurdish Regional Government, Iraqi Central Government, Iranians, Turks, et al) are considering how to use the recent disorder to increase their respective influences across the region.
    Mission
Alpha Company “War Eagles” is ordered to secure OBJ Cluster, a refugee camp reported to have been overtaken by PKK forces. Located less than 2 km from the Turkey-Iraq border, we must seize the objective in order to prevent and potentially defeat further PKK attacks on Turkish and NATO forces in the AO.
3CAB “Falcons” is tasked with scouting the objective area and surrounding mountains to identify PKK and any other hostile targets. Prevent escape by enemy forces, who may attempt to flee east into the mountains. Provide aviation support to ground forces, i.e., transport, resupply, casevac, and CAS.
Second Platoon “Griffins” is tasked with ISR of OBJ Cluster and a reported PKK camp located in the mountains east of the objective area. Satellite and drone footage show a few small trenches on several eastern ridges, but no visible troops or equipment. Support the company assault and be prepared to move to additional targets if and when identified.
First Platoon “Widowmakers” is tasked with assaulting OBJ Cluster and destroying PKK offensive capabilities in the area. Be prepared to move to follow-on objective(s) if and when identified.
ROE: Military age male with irregular camo PKK uniform with Kurdistan flag shoulder patch and weapon. When in doubt, hold fire until fired upon. In all cases involving armed civilians, hold fire until fired upon.

    Presence Patrol #10
    Situation
Clearing the large PKK-occupied encampment along the Turkish border last week, 3rdID stopped the enemy thrust westward and allowed Turkish Forces to bolster their defenses with an additional battalion from the Hakkari Mountain Warfare and Commando Brigade. Captured intelligence reveals the PKK has increased smuggling operations in the valley and has two infantry companies entrenched in the southeastern AO.
Although Kurdish insurgents appear to be on the defensive, they continue to pose a significant threat to US and other NATO forces in the region with IEDs and rocket artillery. In addition, Iranian militia and Quds Force operatives in northern Iraq have become increasingly active and are beginning to spread across north Uzbin Valley.
    Mission
Alpha Company “War Eagles” is ordered to sweep and clear Patrol Area DELIVERANCE, where at least 2x rifle platoons from PKK 4th Company, 2-4 RGB has gone to ground while awaiting further orders. It is very likely that the enemy force has a large amount of weapons, ammunition, and explosives, in addition to whatever vehicles they can conceal in the villages.
Second Platoon “Griffins” is tasked with reconnaissance of the Patrol Area and east/north flank security for First Platoon as it conducts its sweep. PKK has additional active units east of PA DELIVERANCE.
First Platoon “Widowmakers” is tasked with clearing the Patrol Area of PKK forces. In addition, obtain human intelligence, provide humanitarian aid to noncombatant civilians, and destroy enemy caches. Capture an EPW.
3CAB “Falcons” is tasked with ISR of the eastern AO to determine whether PKK forces are preparing to move to oppose or counterattack our patrol elements, in additional to general aviation duties, e.g. transport, resupply/logistics, casevac, and CAS.
