First Lieutenant Brad Ahles has joined 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade as Aviation Commander. A longtime veteran of 3rdID, he brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership experience to the position.
First enlisting as a Private Trainee in 2012, he rose through the ranks as an infantryman and served as First Platoon’s Platoon Sergeant. Stepping up to take on various essential roles throughout his career, he joined 3CAB in 2016, earning his Army Aviator Wings in July of that year. He went from Pilot to Commanding Officer during his time in the Brigade.
A hardened veteran of many combat operations, the Lieutenant understands the vital role of aviation assets during ground operations.
His awards include the Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts, the Meritorious Service Medal, two Army Commendation Medals, and many others. He is also Airborne and Air Assault qualified. He has fought in Operations Pirate Purge, Titan Campaign, Black Forest, Swarmer II, Bronze Fire, Red Leopard, Bright Star, Freedom's Sentinel, and Thin Ice.
Speaking of his vision for the detachment, Lieutenant Ahles said, “My main focus with 3CAB is to bring attendance back to where we can properly support our infantry assets. However, we also need to hone our skills in every aspect imaginable and to do that I'm bringing with me a revamped flight school, and intensive training regimen.”
The men and women of the Marne Division are looking forward to the future of 3CAB.
We will see you in the field, Sir!
