SITUATION With the 2020 Russian constitutional amendments enshrined in law, Putin and his inner circle are all but guaranteed to rule indefinitely. In light of ongoing Chinese and North Korean geopolitical aspirations, Moscow is once again looking for opportunities to assert power within its regional sphere of influence. In addition to Russia’s continued support of Ukrainian separatists, American news media have reported on a recent increase of US Air Force intercepts of Russian aircraft flying off the coast of Alaska. With the completion of Defender Europe 2020 and the president’s talk of reducing US military forces in Germany by 10,000 personnel, Putin feels emboldened. Last night, Russian Armed Forces crossed into eastern Finland in a full-scale attack. At present, the Russians have penetrated 20km into Finnish territory. Finnish Defence Forces have defended their country ferociously, but even Prime Minister Sanna Marin admits they can’t do it alone. The Parliament of Finland has officially requested NATO and UN assistance. Although not a NATO signatory, Finland has developed a close working relationship with Brussels in recent years. The White House has done an about face and pledges full support to Helsinki. 2. MISSION First Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment is ordered to kill/capture HVT Russian GEN Yuri Brusilov, Commander of the 6th Combined Arms Army. Alpha Company’s First Platoon will drop into Virolahti and locate the HVT, call-sign “Ivan”. He will likely be at his home or his office in Virolahti, OBJ Stolichnaya and OBJ Smirnoff, respectively. Local human sources report that the General also occasionally drives to the Russian supply depot located on the main highway north of the city, but almost always during the day. Once Ivan is taken into custody, radio for helo extract immediately. Due to the number and strength of Russian forces in the AO, stealth, speed, surprise, and violence of action are critical to a successful operation. Rangers lead the way! 3.
