WARNORD 14 AUG 20 - Mission: Bow Drill

 

1. SITUATION

 

After our engagement on the cliff south of Rasman airbase, Takistan district’s northern sector has been quiet for the past week. Infantry and IED attacks have decreased dramatically across the AO. Overall security continues to improve. Bastam’s mayor Balochi has thanked us for making his town safer.

 

First Platoon is now holding what it’s got. However, Battalion reports a recent influx of al Qaeda-affiliated militants entering Afghanistan from Russia and Uzbekistan. S-2 is concerned they may link up with and supplement the Taliban following the insurgents’ recent rout.

 

2. MISSION

 

The week’s relative calm was just broken by a call for support from ANA Outpost Jilavur, several clicks west of COP Connor. First Platoon will move as a QRF to reinforce the Outpost. Ensure contacts are reported and tracked for further interdiction as necessary.
